"Edited to Add"....

This started as a pregnancy blog when I fell pregnant in May 2009 after four years of finding a donor, doing all the counselling / paperwork / tests and trying.

And now, thanks to a 4WD which skidded onto our side of the road, killing our baby daughter at 34w and injuring me, my partner and two of my stepdaughters on 27 December 2009, it has turned into something else. We didn't want this something else, but apparently it is all we've got to go on with.

Huh?

Now I'm just confused. I had my blood test this morning and it was a faint positive...?!? HCG of 37. Which I think is low-ish for day 14dpo, but still positive. Given the bleeding, I really can't see how a little embryo could still be in there, but who knows. I go for another blood test tuesday morning. Until then, I don't know.

My gut feeling is that it will be negative by then, but I guess the fact that there was some hcg is a good sign, even if we're not successful this cycle. (When I was pregnant with Z, my hcg at about day 22dpo was 2063)

    Hopefully it's just a slow start (I've heard that's common with IVF, but that's just hearsay). Regardless, much love. <3

    OMG!! THAT IS A POSITIVE.... check out www.betabase.info and have a look.... median at 14dpo is 101... lowest is just 1.... for a viable pregnancy.... you are in there, girl. Fingers crossed!!!!

    37 may be a bit low but it can definitely turn into a viable pregnancy. Keeping my fingers crossed and saying some prayers for you.

    Oh my. While seemingly low numbers can be confusing and hard, there are reasons to hang onto hope. Are you familiar with 'Journey Towards Our Baby's blog? They started with a similar number on 9DP5DT (14dpo) of 31 and are close to delivery now.

    Thinking about you in the limbo time, and hoping that you are surrounded by love right now.

    I really hope that this is just a slow start, as others have said. It is hard hard hard to be in the limbo. I hope you get some answers soon and that your next beta is undeniably strong & rising.

    My latest (and only successful pregnancy) 14dpo beta was 40, only 3 measly points above yours.
    I didn't have any bleeding, but it's common enough in early pregnancy....just sayin. Wishing you the best with a doubling number in a couple of days. Good luck -my thoughts are with you.

    Praying for a positive outcome! I don't know about betas - I've never had them done - but I've bled in all my pregnancies, even my daughter's, who is healthy and sitting in my lap as I type this, so that doesn't necessarily mean it's over. Thinking of you! xx

    Wow - that's big news. Sending you strength to get through until you can have the next test. Your body is being driven by a medical process right now, so its signals won't necessarily mean what they usually do. Lots of hoping (without magical thinking) from over here!     I had an hcg level at 15 dpo with a viable pregnancy. Keep your hopes up!

    It is totally possible. My first beta with my daughter was 40. It was a 3 day transfer and my RE tests after 11 days, so 14 DPO? It didn't double either, only went up to 65. No one gave us much hope for that pregnancy at all, but she is a wild 2 year old now :). Since your embryo only started out as 2 cells it just may be a little slow in growing. Fingers crossed!!!

    Wow. This is a big step in a good direction. The fact that you can even get a flicker of a good HCG is a good sign that your little tiny embryos can turn into babies! All the best for the Big Wait over the next few hours..

    A positive is a positive! I know several people who had very low betas and bleeding who ended up with real live take-home babies. I'll be keeping all of my parts crossed for you!

    Oh - thank you all so much for the low hcg / bleeding in pregnancy babies - it is good to know it can happen. Meanwhile, I'm just continuing my little mantra, "who knows who knows who knows"!
